SUBMISSIONS CLOSED 19 MAY 2024
Geelong Writers invited writers to submit to our 2024 General Anthology.
This year the anthology includes five categories:
- Short story (to 1,500 words)
- Memoir (to 1,500 words)
- Flash fiction (to 300 words)
- Poetry (to 300 words)
- Historical fiction (to 1,500 words)
The short story, memoir, poetry, and historical fiction categories did not have a set theme.
For flash fiction, writers were asked to respond to the image below:

Submission Guidelines:
- Entry is free for Geelong Writers members. Become a member here.
- There is a $15 entry fee per submission per category for non-members; $5 for a second submission in each category. Payment can be made via bank transfer;
- Submissions are restricted to two pieces per genre per author. Authors can submit a total of up to 10 pieces across the five genres (two per genre). We will not accept all 10 in one genre
- All submissions must use Times New Roman font
- All must use 12-point font size
- Double spacing (exceptions with concrete poetry)
- Pages must be numbered
- Our house style is Australian Standard: singular quotations and Australian spelling
- Your name should not appear anywhere on your work
- Submit work via our form as a word document (.doc or docx format)
- Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but you must inform us if a piece is accepted elsewhere
- No previously published work allowed (personal blog and social media posts excepted)
