Geelong Writers is a small, non-profit organisation. Paid memberships not only help finance writing events and publications like our annual Anthology, they ensure we survive.
At the Geelong Writers’ Annual General Meeting, held on 22 October 2025, the meeting voted unanimously for the following motion:
‘That the annual membership fees of Geelong Writers Inc. increase from the current $40 (full)/$30 (concession) per year to $50 (full)/$40 (concession) per year at the start of the 2026-2027 financial year; that the annual membership fees for students remain at $10 per year.‘
Benefits of Geelong Writers membership include:
- Free entry to Geelong Writers publications
- Discounted fees for competitions, workshops and other Geelong Writers events
- A 10% discount on purchases from The Book Bird, Pakington St, Geelong West
- Free promotion of members’ publications on our website, in our newsletter and on social media
- Opportunities to have work published on our website and social media
- Access to Writers Victoria benefits, on a first come, first served basis:
- Writers Victoria events: one member of the group can take advantage of the discounted rate per event.
- Writers Victoria manuscript assessment service: one member of the organisation can access the discounted rate per year of membership.
- Access to all other Writers Victoria services including use of the library and Writers Victoria staff advice and information.
Membership fees for the 2026/27 financial year can be paid now.
