naXOs is a Geelong Writers publication of resonant, experimental, contemporary poetry. naXOs evolves from AnoMaly Street; encourages poetry that plays; makes new, unexpected connections through structure, language, and images.

Through Geelong Writers naXOs publication we commit to poetry from Geelong, Bellarine, and Surf Coast, unceded lands inhabited for thousands of years by the Wadawurrung peoples. We give deference to the voices of all peoples who live on the edge of sea and land.

Submissions for the inaugural edition of naXOs are now closed. Submissions closed on 31 May 2026.

The launch of naXOs is scheduled for our Members Night on 26 August 2026.

Submission Guidelines
  • We are interested in poetry that explores unexpected pathways.
  • Submissions are to be made using the Submission Form (click the button above).
  • Submissions are limited to three poems. It may not be possible to include all submissions.
  • naXOs is open and free to members of Geelong Writers, wherever they live.
  • Non-members will need to pay a submission fee of $10 per poem (plus a nominal service charge). Why not consider becoming a member! A TryBooking link appears at the beginning of the submission form. If you are a non-member, please click this link and pay the submission fee(s) before proceeding with the rest of the submission form.
  • Only submit original, unpublished poems that are not under consideration elsewhere
  • naXOs is an A5 publication. We prefer shorter poems that fit on 1-2 A5 pages. Please consider text readability on images when submitting your work.
  • For each poem you are submitting, please upload the following files:
    • a Word document (a DOC or DOCX file) containing the poem’s text,
    • and, if you are submitting a concrete (visual) poem, a mockup of your poem as a PNG or JPG file.
  • We prefer images to be submitted in A5 size. 148 x 210 millimeters (5.83 x 8.27 inches). In pixels, this equals 1748 x 2480 px for high-quality printing (300 DPI).
  • Please do not include multiple poems in an individual file.
  • Please name each file to be uploaded with a prefix that includes your first initial and surname, then the poem number, e.g., MSmithPoem1.jpg.
  • Any images incorporated with or attached to poems must be the poet’s own work or otherwise attributed. Please include attribution details in the Other Comments field.
  • Please include a 30-word bio.

If you have any queries or need assistance, please email naxos@geelongwriters.org.au.
