SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  • AnoMaly Street is open to members of Geelong Writers, wherever they live. It is also open to writers who live, work or study in the City of Greater Geelong, Borough of Queenscliffe, Surf Coast, Colac-Otway or Golden Plains shires.
  • Original, unpublished poems not under consideration elsewhere are welcome (poems posted on social media or on a personal blog will be accepted).
  • AnoMaly Street is a small publication. To enable us to publish as many voices as possible we prefer shorter poems that fit on 1-2 A5 pages. For video and performance poems, our preference is for pieces of under 5 minutes.
  • Submit work in Garamond font. A different font will only be considered if it is integral to the piece.
  • Any images with poems must be the poet’s own work or otherwise attributed.
  • Submissions are limited to 3 poems.
  • Submit work either attached as a Word document, PNG or JPG to anomalystreet@geelongwriters.org.au. One poem per document. In the body of the email include the title/s of the work/s.
  • Optional, you may include an artist statement/inspiration for your piece.
  • What happens upon acceptance? If the editor sees fit, poems may undergo a collaborative editing process via email communication/track changes/face to face discussion.

TIPS FROM THE EDITOR:

  • Be daring and uncensored
  • A distinctive voice is valued
  • Read, read, read!
  • And then write
  • We publish all poets, from beginners to much-published and all in-between
  • We are interested in print, performative and video poetry

Send us your best, most challenging work.
